2021 Virtual COSSAP National Forum

COSSAP 2021 New Partners, New Tools, Renewed Hope

Although the 2021 Virtual COSSAP National Forum has adjourned, you can still view the agenda, information about the presenters, resources, and recordings of sessions in this archival section.

As our nation faces the intersecting crises of the COVID-19 pandemic and a rise in overdose fatalities, the Bureau of Justice Assistance’s (BJA) Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Abuse Program (COSSAP)-supported projects are ideally positioned to support the Biden Administration’s vision to steer American communities toward expanded, comprehensive, and sustainable responses to substance use disorders (SUDs) that prioritize prevention, treatment, recovery, and harm reduction. The social distancing and quarantines put in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19 forced practitioners to identify and implement new methods of providing vital services while forming new partnerships to make certain that necessary services continued safely. This innovative response has resulted in a renewed energy for action and for hope: prevention works, treatment is effective, and people can and do recover.

About The Forum

This virtual convening, hosted by BJA through COSSAP, focused on tackling one of the most critical challenges of our time: putting an end to America’s opioid, stimulant, and substance misuse. The virtual setting offered the feel of an in-person event, allowing participants to connect directly with colleagues to hear from federal experts, discuss relevant issues and trends, share ideas, exchange resources, and gain new skills to improve programs.
