Summary:

Colerain Township, Ohio developed its Quick Response Teams (QRT) in 2015. The Colerain Township Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) team with the police department to engage the community in education on recovery and harm minimization. Colerain Township’s QRT model is designed to remove barriers to treatment access and connect individuals to recovery resources. The outreach team includes a police officer, a firefighter paramedic, and a chemical dependency counselor who conduct follow-up outreach to individuals identified through law enforcement overdose data. The Township’s Fire and EMS Department also initiated a S.A.F.E. Station Program in November of 2018 to offer an additional resource to individuals seeking help with a substance use disorder.
